ABOUT US

The Poster of an Island is the meeting of two illustrators:
Hippolyte & Guillaume Plantevin

Our story begins in 2017. It is the drawn story of our meeting, two illustrators with different styles and the same desires. It takes place in our adopted land, the Réunion Island, this piece of land with a thousand faces thrown into the middle of the Indian Ocean. The pencil ofHippolyte in one hand, the graphic palette of Guillaume Plantevin in the other, we set ourselves the challenge of catching the places, scenes of life and dreamlike moments of island daily life, all in a resolutely vintage style. A poetic bet which made the place of an exhibition in March 2018 at La Cité des Arts (Saint-Denis).

The breathtaking views of Mafate, the water of Langevin, the icy nights of the Piton des Neiges, the light of Cap Jaune or the sand of Grande Anse ... among the 28 posters on sale since the launch, we have given pride of place to the emblematic places of our Reunion Island. Residents, tourists,, everyone will recognize a piece of “his” island, and more. Because in each image, we want the observer to find himself there. Our drawings work out a little with reality, some details are pure invented poetry, but the scenes speak to everyone. In addition to the places, we also explored everything that makes the soul of our island, such as the cardinal and his red dress or the strides of the trailers.

Poster project but above all a project around an island, L'Affiche d'une Île is an independent and local adventure: the recycled paper is printed in Sainte-Marie and the packaging boxes come from ESAT the Ti Dalons. Thirteen partner shops line our coasts and our cities, and we are even present in the markets, the Cilaos circus included, thanks to our friend and partner Christophe . And if you are a bit far from us today, you can obviously order your poster here ...

Have a good trip to our island, Guillaume and Hippolyte.

What a strange bird!

Our logo, inspired by postal or customs stamps, is an invitation to travel.

Alone amidst the waves of the Indian Ocean stands

the solitaire de Bourbon, unfortunately extinct endemic bird (often confused with the Mauritian dodo), symbol of a unique and little-known island. Through our posters we want to introduce Reunion to those who do not know it and rediscover those who love it.

Images and imagination

We love our island and live it intensely.

More than just drawn photos, our posters reflect our experiences in symbolic places and each tell a story, in their own way.

Each poster is printed on 250gsm recycled paper. It is then protected in tissue paper and packaged by us in an individual cardboard box and identified by a badge in its colors.
